TRAVEL INFORMATION

Madrid is a wonderfully historic capital city in Europe. There are many historical sites, museums, and other exciting things to see in the city. World class shopping awaits you as well. The subway system is reliable, safe, and can take you anywhere you want to go in the city. Buy a subway visitor's pass at the station in the airport and take the subway to the Melia Castilla hotel! Then, use your pass to explore the city during your stay.

Madrid’s Regional Consortium of transportation is offering FIE 2014 conference delegates a tourist travel pass at a 30% discount. The tourist pass provides limitless travel on all metro lines, suburban trains and buses in Madrid, including to the Hotel Melia Castilla’s nearest station: Cuzco Metro Station. You can purchase the pass online and redeem the pass at any redemption point at the Madrid-Barajas Airport (terminal 2 & 4).

Madrid is connected to many other historical sites in Spain by a reliable train network. Fares are reasonable and service between cities is very regular. If you are extending your stay, consider a visit to the historic cities of Toledo, Segovia, Escorial, or Cordova. Or, consider a longer overnight to Barcelona, Sevilla, or Valencia. All of these cities are easily reached on the Spanish train network.
